Call for Applications: Instructors/Workshops for the 2026 TLI Teaching & Learning Track
The Appalachian College Association seeks applications for Instructors for the Teaching & Learning (T&L) Track for the 2026 Teaching and Leadership Institute (TLI) at Young Harris College, June 1-4, 2026. It is expected that applicants will be 
continuing faculty or staff members at ACA member institutions throughout the time of appointment. Instructors will receive a stipend following TLI. The theme for the Teaching & Learning Track for 2026 is: "Thriving through Challenge: Helping Students Embrace Risk to Build Resilience." Your application should highlight how your qualifications align to this theme. In addition, please ensure that your Chief Academic Officer also submits your letter of endorsement.
To ensure full review of application/workshop proposal, please submit all materials by Monday, December 1, 2025; review of applications will continue until all instructor positions are filled.
The colleges and universities of the Appalachian College Association share a common commitment to support students through exceptional teaching and learning opportunities. To these ends, each summer the ACA hosts an intensive, week-long workshop on one of our member campuses delivered by national experts and master-teachers from ACA institutions, designed to promote pedagogical development and innovation. The Institute emphasizes integrated learning, student centered learning theories, and evidence-based teaching practices.
The TLI also includes a track on Higher Education leadership in the ACA context. This track is open to anyone in or aspiring to be in a leadership position but is especially focused on the knowledge and skills necessary for those who are new to campus leadership roles (academic or otherwise), such as department chairs, deans, and directors of programs.
Year after year, the TLI's post-event survey feedback indicates incredible benefits to participants. For example, last year, 100% of post-event survey respondents noted that they would encourage their colleagues to attend TLI based upon their own experiences. We encourage all ACA faculty and staff to consider participating in this valuable experience!
The 2026 TLI moves to Young Harris College, June 1-4, 2026. Registration will open February 2026. We hope to see you there!

The ACA's 2025 Teaching & Leadership Institute convened June 2-5, 2025, at Maryville College, in Maryville, TN, with workshops in two program tracks: Teaching & Learning or Higher Education Leadership Development.
