Course Sharing Partnership

Through the special partnership of the Appalachian College Association and Acadeum, participating ACA institutions have access to consortial online course sharing among member institutions. Through an online portal, students approved by the home institution can register for online courses furnished by the host institution. Acadeum facilitates the admissions and registration processes for the students, provides syllabi for all courses and necessary documentation for home institutions to satisfy federal and regional reporting, and helps the students remain enrolled in their home institutions and graduate on time. Each ACA institution sustains full discretion regarding when and how it participates in the partnership.                                               Lindsey Wilson outdoor class with instructor and students

Through this collaboration, ACA colleges and universities can accomplish a number of strategic goals. Most importantly, schools can use this partnership to enhance student success and to promote student retention and progress toward degree completion, while ensuring greater quality control over courses taken by students from other providers. In addition, this collaboration can help institutions develop and/or sustain degree programs; offering students access to specialty courses and enhancing online course options.

The ACA Course Sharing Consortium is managed by the Council of Chief Academic Officers through its Executive Committee. As a special consortium, schools are able to apply grades, credit hours toward full-time status, and financial aid to courses shared across our members as if the course were offered internally. Currently, over half of ACA member institutions have joined in this partnership.
