What happens when I submit my application?
The ACA and Directors of TLI review all applications. An application is not considered complete until approval by the Chief Academic Officer of the applicant’s institution. Applications must be submitted via the ACA website.
What is the difference between the three tracks offered at TLI?
The first track serves faculty who are new to teaching, new to ACA schools, or have not attended a previous institute. The second track is for more seasoned faculty or alums of past institutes and will focus this year on the use of technology to enhance student-centered teaching. The third track is designed for new program coordinators, department chairs, or division chairs, academic leaders who must blend their faculty and administrative roles.
Who is my Chief Academic Officer or CAO?
The Chief Academic Officer is the top-ranking Academic Administrator at your institution. Titles such as Provost, Dean of Faculty, and/or Vice President for Academic Affairs are often used for this member of the President’s senior staff.

What should I bring to TLI?
-
Laptop, notebook, or I-pad. Thumb drive or other storage device, power strip, and extra Ethernet connection (Brevard College has WI-Fib, but in certain situations, it may be useful to have the Ethernet cord). You will have access to a Brevard College computer lab as well.
-
Writing utensils, paper, whatever you need to make thinking and working on your courses possible.
-
Another reading lamp for bedside and extension cords.
-
Hangers, iron (desktop makes a passable surface for ironing)
-
Hand soap, bath soap, shampoo, hairdryer, and other grooming accessories.
-
Extra towels and washcloths if desired. NOTE: It is also handy to have a hand towel and a light weight towel to use as a floor mat outside the shower.
-
If needed, any extra blankets, electric blanket, sleeping bag, and/or bed pad. (The rooms do not have individual thermostats.)
-
Coffee pot, cups, bowls, flatware, and any food or beverage that you want outside of the delicious (and it is delicious) variety offered at mealtimes at Brevard. The kitchen has a stove and refrigerator. Some units, maybe all, have microwaves.
-
Lawn chair or quilt and fun stuff if you like the outdoors. There is a tennis court as well as open space between the cabins if you want to bring badminton or anything.
-
Musical instruments are always good. There is a nice common area at the end of the village dorm where you can play or stop and listen to a tune.
Anything that you forget will be available at the Kmart or Ingles grocery store next to campus (within walking distance).
What is needed to connect to the internet at Brevard College?
All network credentials for all participants and staff will be handed out upon arrival. We do suggest bringing your own ethernet cord.
